WORKING HERE. DO NOT DELETE.
Work began on Castles & Crusades in 2003 as Troll Lord Games began to move away from strictly d20 publications. The company sought to create a simplified version of Dungeons and Dragons, one that would meet their needs of a simplified game and one that would meet Gary Gygax’s needs of a game for which he could write Castle Zagyg (the new name for his long-awaited Castle Greyhawk material)[1][2].
