Ron Bridgewater (born 1947) is an American jazz tenor saxophone player and Professor of Music at the University of Illinois. John_Garvey_(musician)
Biography
[edit]Bridgewater was born in Champaign, Illinois, to a musical family. He studied at the University of Illinois where he played in the school jazz band lead by John Garvey. He and brother Ron formed the Bridgewater Brothers Band in 1969. In 1972 he toured the Soviet Union with the Jones / Lewis Orchestra, with whom he played from 1972-1975.
He is currently Associate Professor of Saxophone at the University of Illinois School of Music.
