Teacher of Social Change Agent:

To be a teacher of social change agent, teachers need to empower, challenge, and accept students of all walks of life. We, as educators, want to be able to have an accepting classroom no matter what their culture, background, values, beliefs and identity are. "A social change agent needs to know things, be able to do things, and is guided by values and attitudes. Mind, body and heart are all part of being an effective agent for social change" (Schulz, 2018, pg 9).

Teachers need to be reflective practitioners as they receive feedback, constructive criticism, wows/wishes and they also research professional development opportunities in their school, district, community and/or state. As educators, we want to give the students in our classes the most effective learning environment that we can have (Bourn, 2016, Waterloo Region District School Board, 8 2014). Teachers need to show skills and talents of being reflective, being positive, being creative and having great communication and collaboration (Van der Heijden, Geldens, Beijaard & Popeijus, 2015).

We can make a positive difference in our community, district, school and class by meeting the needs of all students in creative and supportive ways.
