The Start of Joulupukki Stories

[edit]

Joulupukki comes from nuuttipukki which when masked is known as joulupukki. In Finland, it is believed that joulupukki is good, in contrast to the evil Christmas goblin Nuuttipukki. He delivers gifts to children by coming to the front door an asking if there are any good children in house.Joulupukki then goes back to Korvatunturifell where he is able to hear all. [1] These stories of Joulupukki come from pagan traditions which were practiced in Finland before Catholicism was introduced. Today Joulupukki stories attract many tourists to Finland and Joulupukki is recognized as a significant part of Finnish heritage.[2]
