I am evaluating an article written about Gaming computers .

Why you have chosen this article to evaluate?

I chose this article to evaluate not only because I wanted to know the difference between gaming computers and "normal" everyday computers/laptops but also because it seems like an interesting topic to learn about as everything now a days is done online, and there may be benefits from switching to gaming computers to improve efficiency and speed.

Evaluate the article

Lead Section:

- The lead does include a introductory sentence clearly explaining the articles topic (gaming computers) and gives some initial insight as to what a gaming computer is and what it is usually used for.

- The lead does include a brief description of the article's major topics, which are: History, computing power and hardware comparison, desktop vs laptop, built vs bought, and references.

- After reading the article, there is information in the lead which is not mentioned throughout the article which is why gaming computers are usually used by video editors as well as gamers.

- The lead is straight to the point and gives a basic understanding of what a gaming computer is and a basic comparison as to how gaming computers differ from mainstream computers.

Content:

- The articles content is relevant to the topic and includes relevant information and examples to support the content.

- Reading over the article and looking at the references, the content is up to date which includes many sources from 2020/2021.

- There is some content that could be considered missing such as more information in the "Computing power and hardware comparison" sub heading as it uses specific examples of certain gaming computers and compares it to a specific regular computer/laptop and does not expand on why the hardware is different or how the difference between gaming computers and regular computers hardware makes an difference. Another area of missing information is a clear distinction between the gaming computers and the regular computers and examples as to why gaming computers are more powerful and used for certain things compared to regular computers and there use.

- The article does not deal with Wikipedia's equity gaps and does not address topics related to historically underrepresented populations or topics.

Tone and Balance:

- After reading through the article, it seems as if it is written from a neutral point of view with no biases or persuasion felt through the writing tone.

- There is a claim within the article that appear to be biased towards a particular position:

• In the "Built vs bought" section: "Clarke also advices that people should and cannot build their own laptops because of how complex and compact everything is"
• The author should have included an ending sentence stating that it can be possible but would take a lot of time and money and that many people who build there own laptops are technicians or are very computer savvy and not recommended for the average person to build.

- I don`t think there are viewpoints that are over-represented or under represented throughout the article.

- There are no minority or fringe viewpoints talked about within the article.

- The article mentions that a gaming computer would be a good option when buying a computer but then also states that there are many types of computers/laptops on the market and its best to find why that matches up to what your looking for from a laptop/computer. But does not try to persuade the reader to favour the gaming computer.

Sources and References:

- The facts in the article are baked up by reliable sources that are relevant to the topic of gaming computers. Information is found from specialized websites dedicated to gaming computers.

- The sources are somewhat thorough, including information about the basics of gaming computers but more information could be added and inserted to make this article stronger.

- The sources are current and up to date, with most of the sources being from 2020/2021.

- The sources are not written by a diverse spectrum of authors with most of them being white males.

- There are better sources that could be used such as some peer reviewed articles. But does use some reliable and respected cites such as "CNN", "PCWorld" and "Wired".

Organization and writing quality:

- The article is somewhat written clearly and easy to read. With some terms where you can hover over to show a more explained definition of the words.

-I did not notice any spelling errors throughout the article, other some sentences that were worded wrong. And some punctuation errors.

- The article is broken down into sections that reflect the major points about this topic. And the layout order transitions smoothly, starting with the history.

Images and Media:

- The article has 1 image at the top of the page that relates to the topic of the article (Gaming computes)

- The picture is well captioned as it states it is "A dedicated gaming PC rig"

- This image does follow the Wikipedia's copy right regulations correctly.

-The image is laid out in an appealing way by being at the top of the page/article but the use of more images could be useful when explaining certain topics within the article and by inserting a compare image of a gaming computer and regular computer.

Talk Page Discussion:

-There is a conversations saying the article does not include enough information to be its own and should be merged with another article but seems like it did not happen.

- The article is rated as a C class and a Level 5 vital article in Technology and high importance. It is also part of the wiki project video game collaboration of video games and the wikiproject computing.

Overall Impressions:

- The overall status of this article is that is can be improved with more relevant and in depth information.

- The strengths within the article is that is does go over the basics of what a gaming computer is but again could add more information. Another strength of the article is that it does flow well between the sub headings.

- The article can be improved by adding a couple more photos, more in depth information between the differences of a gaming compute and a regular computer/laptop and also explain in depth why people use gaming computes and the reasons why (faster, more storage, more reliable, can handle a lot of tabs open at once).

- I think the article is under developed and could be useful to add more information and more sub headings regarding the topic of Gaming computers.
