Securolytics Inc. (previously known as Teknas MSP) is an Atlanta-based cloud security company founded by Sanket Patel and Vikas Singla. It provides security information and event management (SIEM) solutions to protect corporate and private data, networks, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices.
Company overview
[edit]Securolytics provides web, data and network security to companies and organizations through threat detection and analytics specifically for the Internet of Things.[1][2] As threat of DDoS attacks through IoT devices is growing,[3] the company is concerned with IoT security defenses in the healthcare,[4] banking, legal and administration. Its objective is to identify compromised IoT devices, discover symptoms of data breach, ransomware infection and insider threats through behavioral analysis and anomaly detection.[5] This concern is also shared by cybersecurity researcher Bruce Schneier who suggested to the U.S. Congress that government should pass regulations mandating internet of things security measures before device vulnerabilities start harming people.[6] Securolytics also provides IoT scans of vulnerabilities in networks for healthcare and financial services industries.
Software
[edit]Securolytics uses advanced statistical modeling and machine learning techniques to identify issues in data and networks.[7] Its ExpressForwarder software securely collects server logs without with no additional hardware nor software. Then, it correlates, enriches and analyzes data to create an appropriate picture of normal activity. Later, it uses advanced decision-making algorithms to spot suspicious behavior that may turn into a threat.[8] For example, around October 2016, Securolytics discovered basic factors that contributed to the Mirai botnet's expansion.[9] It found that some IoT devices, including webcams, routers, and DVRs broadcast online their model numbers and software version information upon contact.[10] There is also the “Securolytics Behavioral Cloud Platform” that is built on sandboxing technology from Cyphort, that enables real-time protection from malicious files and activity before signatures are released.
Recognition
[edit]During its inaugural “Demo Day” on August 25, 2016 at the Atlanta Tech Village, CyberLaunch recognized Securolytics as one the seven most promising information security and machine learning startups.[11]</ref name="cyberlaunch">
