Mauro Francis is a Canadian politician who has served as the member of Parliament (MP) for Burnaby North—Seymour since 2025. A member of the Conservative Party, he was elected to the House of Commons in the 2025 federal election.

Early life and career

Francis was raised in Vancouver, where he attended Templeton Secondary School. He pursued a career in technology while remaining active in community service. Francis served as the executive director of the South Vancouver Community Policing Centre, where he worked on addressing local crime. He was involved in discussions regarding a rise in theft rates in the Sunset neighborhood, highlighting various contributing factors, including the displacement of individuals from encampments and challenges related to mental health and addiction.

Early political aspirations

Francis began his political career in Vancouver’s municipal politics. In 2022, he ran for Vancouver City Council under the Non-Partisan Association (NPA) banner. However, he left the NPA citing internal party dynamics that he felt hindered his ability to campaign effectively. In his statement, Francis expressed his desire to be part of a team that focused on public safety and creating a welcoming environment for families. He later joined Progress Vancouver, a political party led by Mark Marissen, focused issues such as public safety and housing.

Political career

In 2025, Francis transitioned to federal politics and was elected as the Conservative MP for Burnaby North-Seymour. His platform focused on issues such as housing affordability, public safety, and reflecting the needs of local families and communities.

Personal Life

Francis resides in Vancouver with his family. Outside of his political career, he has contributed to community initiatives, including mentoring at the East End Boys Club.
