3dfx Interactive (often shortened to 3dfx) was an American technology company based in San Jose, California.
History

[edit]The company was founded by ex-Silicon Graphics engineers.
1994–96: Early history
[edit]On October 7, 1996, 3dfx released the Voodoo Graphics GPU, with the Orchid Righteous 3D being the first model to launch.[1] Other models from different vendors like Creative Labs or Diamond would follow throughout the remainder of that year.
1997–98: Peak years
[edit]This was followed up by the Voodoo 2 in 1997.
1999–2001: Decline and downfall
[edit]The company declared bankruptcy on December 15, 2000.[2]
