Shivwa P S
[edit]Like every child, Mr. Sivakumar had dreams. Dreams that one day his art would take the spotlight. He began with crayons doubling his effort with each paper, creating what was done art to his tiny eyes. As he grew older, his dream of becoming a professional artist continued to swirl in his mind and his desire to graduate in the Madras Arts College was sadly deprived of him. He instead pursued M.A Sociology at Annamalai University, Chidambaram on his father’s compulsion. But art being his natural asset and a wild passion constantly clawed back to the surface and was easily recognized by his university honoring him with multiple awards for such impeccable artistic creations. On his quest to fulfil his father’s dream, he landed numerous jobs including work at the Tamil Nadu Leather industry and Afcons. As fate would have it, he met an artist Mr.Vijayan on his usual travel to office. He learnt the various painting and color mixing techniques from him by merely observing and began practicing the same. After (the expected) strong opposition from his family, he quit his government job to take up the position of a full-time Oil Portrait Artist at Natanam Art International. Under the guidance of the well-known cartoonist, he accomplished exclusive paintings like the oil portraits in Thenagur and went on to create the series of Sankaracharya portraits among others over the world. Soon, he established his own painting studio “A Shivwa Painting studio” which supplied paintings to the Central Cottage Industries and also went on to provide a permanent exhibit at Rani Seethai Hall in Chennai to mark the 105th Birhtday of the first mayor Dr.Raja Sir Muthiah Chettiyar by showcasing his complete life history with his vivid oil portraits.
