I'm an Assistant Professor in New Media Histories at the University of Amsterdam, was the Principal Investigator of a Wikimedia Funded research project, a former Wikipedia Visiting Scholar, and I have contributed to the Wikimedia Research Newsletter.

Recently, I have written (with others) on the need to reignite research that frames Wikipedia as global knowledge infrastructure[1][2]. My particular angle of this kind of research examines the political design of encyclopedic knowledge, which has included studying practices and techniques of consensus both within Wikipedia[3][4][5][6][7] and new media[8][9] in general. I have also conducted previous research by examining the epistemological connections between Wikipedia and the Encyclopedia Britannica by comparing the organizational structure of ten articles throughout the lifespan of each encyclopedia.[10] as well as understanding how Wikipedia has shaped digital culture more broadly.[11]
