Glam Masters

Glam Masters is a reality TV series produced by Kim Kardashian-West and Diana Madison. It features makeup artists and beauty influencers competing in a series of competitions to win the opportunity to collaborate with Kim on a limited-edition collection for her makeup line, KKW Beauty. The series is hosted by actress Laverne Cox, who is joined by judges Mario Dedivanovic, Kandee Johnson, and Zanna Roberts Rassi.

Rumours about Kim Kardashian-West producing a reality show called "Glam Masters" first began to circulate in 2016 when a casting call appeared on Facebook looking for "the best makeup artists YouTube has to offer."[1] The series was confirmed in 2018 and officially premiered on LifeTime TV on February 28, 2018.

Summary

Each episode of Glam Masters features four makeup artists and beauty influencers battling head-to-head in themed challenges. The artists are tested to prove they have the talent, skill, charisma, and vision to become the next icon in the beauty industry.

The winner of each week qualifies to advance to "The Tournament of Masters" finale. Only one beauty influencer will claim the title of "Glam Master" and win the opportunity to join Kim's Glam Squad and collaborate with KKW Beauty.

Laverne Cox

Laverne Cox is the current host of Glam Masters and a holds a lot of influence in the beauty industry. Cox is an American actress and LGBT advocate, best known for her role as Sophia Burset on the Netflix series, Orange is the New Black. Cox's passion for makeup began in high school when she came out as transgender. Makeup allowed her to express her femininity through her gender transformation and show her true self to the world.[2] She also has a vibrant television personality, claiming that as the host of Glam Masters, she has taken on a persona described as "a combination of RuPaul meets Tyra Banks meets Oprah meets Heidi Klum."[2]

Mario Dedivanonic

Mario Dedivanonic is a professional makeup artist and one of Kim-Kardashian-West's closest friends, appearing in several episodes of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. He started his makeup career as an entry level Sephora employee and now has his own Instagram account "makeupbymario" with over 4.1 million followers.[3] Dedivanonic is an ambassador for makeup company, Anatasia Beverly Hills and has partnered with CoverGirl, Marc Jacobs, and Laura Mercier on many projects.[3] He was one of the makeup artists who worked for Michael Jordan and Yvette Priesto's wedding and he did Naomie Harris's makeup for the Golden Globes in 2017.[3] He also created "The Master Class" which is a worldwide makeup tour where he teaches his latest makeup techniques.[4]

Kandee Johnson

Kandee Johnson is a professional makeup artist, best known for her YouTube channel where she uses makeup to transform herself into a series of characters, including, Snow White, Miley Cyrus, and Edward Scissorhands.[5] Johnson's makeup career started after her graduation from beauty school when she realized she hated hair styling and wanted to focus on makeup.[5] She then collaborated with Too Faced to create her own makeup line called "I Want Kandee."[6] She was also nominated for a Teen Choice Award for Choice Web Star in both 2016 and 2017 and a Shorty Award for Best YouTube Guru in 2016.[7] Johnson was a guest judge on Style Network's makeover show, How Do I Look? and has been featured in both Elle and Glamour magazine.[8]

Zanna Roberts Rassi

Zanna Roberts Rassi is the co-founder of Milk Makeup and the senior fashion editor for Marie Claire.[9] Rassi found her passion for beauty at the age of 18, where she landed her first job as an intern for Marie Claire. She has since then been promoted to her current role as senior fashion editor.[9] She appeared as a mentor for the contestants on the reality series, Project Runway: All Stars, is a fashion consultant for the American retail chain, Target, as well as a fashion correspondent for E! News.[9] She was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Entertainment News Program in 2015,[9] and some of her best works include styling for Hollywood actresses, Jennifer Aniston, Naomi Watts, and Eva Mendes.[10]
