Minor

[edit]

"Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Read Help:Minor edit for more information. removal of citations, removal of sourced content, adding unsourced content, introducing deliberate factual errors

Medical articles

[edit]

Please don't edit medical articles, such as XXXX, until you have carefully read WP:MEDRS. Medical articles have a higher standard for reliable sources than many other Wikipedia articles. What we understand about human health and medicine is based on the basic science of biology, and biology is complex. Non-medical sources often are dead wrong, or dramatically overstate what we can confidently say, based on the science. For health-related content, the field is evidence-based medicine. And per WP:MEDRS – which the community created after long and arduous discussion – we reach for review articles published in the biomedical literature, or statements by major medical or scientific bodies.

Not normalized. See WT:Manual of Style/Film/Archive 6#Metacritic's so-called "normalized" scores.

Archive links: copy the URL out of the citation source, and paste it into the lookup field at archive.org. You'll usually get a page showing you all the dates that they've taken a snapshot of the original page, although sometimes the snapshots have errors. try to find a snapshot around the time of the access-date. more info at WP:LINKROT, especially the WP:DEADLINK section

Citation COI

[edit]

Information icon Hello, XXXX. We welcome your contributions, but it appears as if your primary purpose on Wikipedia is to add citations to research published by a small group of researchers.

Editing in this way is a violation of the policy against using Wikipedia for promotion and is a form of conflict of interest in Wikipedia – please see WP:SELFCITE and WP:MEDCOI. The editing community considers excessive self-citing to be a form of spamming on Wikipedia (WP:REFSPAM); the edits will be reviewed and the citations removed where it was not appropriate to add them.

Scientific articles should prefer secondary sources to ensure that the information added is trusted by the scientific community.

The editing community highly values expert contributors, so I do hope you will consider contributing more broadly. If you wish to contribute, please first consider citing review articles written by other researchers in your field and which are already highly cited in the literature. If you wish to cite your own research, please start a new section on the article's talk page and add {{Edit COI}} to ask a volunteer to review whether or not the citation should be added.
