Ronnie Woo Woo is an affable figure in the mind of Cub fans around the world. His pleasant face and acrimonious voice provide much bravado to Cub fans. Ronnie also has much knowledge about Cub history. Ranging from the 1945 Chicago Cubs to the 2005 Chicago Cubs, Ronnie has regaled Chicago Cubs fans with rhythmic chants. Sometimes, Ronnie has been referred to as “Señor Amable” among the Spanish-speaking patrons to the friendly confines. Perhaps one of Ronnie’s most memorable chants deals with the 1969 Chicago Cubs. This chant includes the players Ernie Banks, Ron Santo, Fergie Jenkins, Glenn Beckert, and Don Kessinger.
Ronnie is also an activist for the Chicago homeless population. Ronnie has participated in numerous events supporting the homeless.[1]
In addition to all of Ronnie’s hard work, he still manages to find time to “woo” at numerous Sox events, such as Sox fest and unrelated Chicago White Sox games. Many Sox fans have absolute knock-the-socks-off-your-feet anecdotes about Ronnie’s run up and down the aisles. While some Sox fans respond to this in a draconic manor, others, in the spirit of America’s pastime, welcome Ronnie ardently among the U.S. Cellular Field brethren. It is safe to say that Ronnie would be found in any credible Chicago Cubs history class. Without Ronnie, Chicago would not have the “wooing” that makes the city what it is today.
