This is a page to list public broadcasting resources that may be helpful to readers in our articles. Anybody who knows about these resources should feel free to add them to the table.
Including such resources may take several forms:
- Citations - the best, but usually the most difficult. Text or quotes from the broadcast are included in the article with inline citations given. First the material must be located, e.g. at 26:43-32:19 of [link to broadcast]. Then it must be written up in the article and cited.
- Using the External Media template - this should only be used to illustrate specific text in the article. It should always appear in the body of the article in the same way that a photograph is inserted to illustrate specific text.
- External links - in the external links section at the end of the article. This is material that will help the reader understand the topic more generally, but does not illustrate specific text or sections of the article.
An incomplete list of providers of these resources.
- American Archive of Public Broadcasting
- A project of WGBH Educational Foundation and the Library of Congress which have complimentary resources as well
- Australian Broadcasting Company, aka ABC
- CBC
- Fresh Air with Terry Gross
- Studs Terkel Radio Archive
- WNYC
Other possible sources that may have special difficulties:
- BBC - material not freely available outside the UK
- Voice of America - freely available from US government (with some restrictions). Sometimes considered US propaganda
