The back drop to their story is this families’ incredible love for GOD and one- another. They all exhibit the traits of morality, integrity, and an undying faith in GOD.
They are a wonderful example of
success in a family separated by drugs and prison. Anna Jackson, was a stern disciplinarian who believed in the Bibles introductions of “Spare the rod, spoil the child” With out being abusive she forcefully instilled the drive and motivation the children needed to survive the Drug epidemic her husband helped create and the tragic (32) year prison experience and eventual loss of their father to the Judicial system; Not to mention, the cloud of dread that was ever present with respect to her husbands’ connection to the Genoves Mafia Crime Family (once the most powerful of the NY Mafia Families). The Washington Post reporters Nancy Lewis and others followed Slippery’s case very closely and wrote several stunning articles on the federal Wiretap, Conspiracy and Black Mafia trials the family tragically endured. The family received support from an Uncle, Rev. Charles B. Jackson; Saint Johns Baptist Church of Marshall Heights throughout their lives. This story is truly on par with Alex Haley’s Roots.
