Soroush Marouzi (Persian: Persian: [so'roosh maˈroo'zi] is an Iranian/Canadian football player and former professional Philosopher. Marouzi began his football carrier from rugged, dirt soccer fields in Mashhad, like many other great players of his generation. During his professional football career, it is rumored that he has played as a playmaker for Aboomoslem, Payam, Siah Jamegan and Padideh, and many more. Marouzi has scored 0 goals in 0 matches for the Iran national team.

Club Career

Early Years - F.C Aboomoslem (2010-2015)

While there in not much sources about his earlier career in Mashhad, it is widely believed that he began his professional career and made a name for himself in F.C aboomoslem with other famous Iranian football players such as Reza Enayati, Mojtaba Jabari and Andranik Teymourian. had direct effect on the downfall and ultimately relegation of F.C Aboomoslem club to second and later 3rd division. His then coach, Akbar Misaghian, described him as "a goofy genius, who was never motivated enough to either improve or deteriorate".

? - (2015 - 2017)

Marouzi immigrated to United States for undisclosed reasons. Very little is known about his whereabouts during this time, due to his introvert characteristics, but mainly since public showed no interest in him. Unofficial records suggest that he has been seen rambling and roving around the campuses of University of New Hampshire during this time, smoking substantial amounts of Cannabis and getting into philosophical discussions with strangers. His soccer career was limited to kicking stones while walking. His later nickname "Bangi" seems to have originated from this period.

? - (2017-2022)

Not being able to land any contracts with teams in the MLS league, Marouzi immigrated to Canada, allegedly with a prominent scholarship from University of Toronto. He obtained his PhD in philosophy, which was completely irrelevant to everything, including this article.

For a period, Marouzi resided at the infamous "159 York mills Road", as many other famous wanderers, entrepreneurs, philosophers and scientists of his generation. In an interview in 2023, he revealed how his only workouts were following his cat, trying to learn and mimic the cat's agility through observation.

He took a more pragmatic approach by implementing his cat teachings through recreational soccer sessions on Monday nights.

Zebelz & Here 4 Beer - (2023-ongoing)

Marouzi professional career took a drastic turn for better when he was spotted by newly established Zebelz F.C scouts. He was offered a 1-season contract with Zebelz to assist them in the prestigious Jam league. Many soccer enthusiasts consider this the best ever Zebelz team as they watched Marouzi play alongside of many aging legends of the game; although the fact that Zebelz team was disbanded by the end of the same season could be the reason of such speculation.

His world class performance, and phenomenal team working abilities assisted Zebelz to finish the 3rd in spring season. Marouzi's signature "scissor" move, accompanied by explosive stepovers draw the attention of media and football fans.

His superior performance continued next season by another newly stablished club, "Here 4 Beer". While Here 4 Beer was having a promising season, new of Marouzi transfer to Duke F.C in MLS league were leaked. While initially denied by both "Here 4 Beer F.C" and himself, this transfer was officially announced by late June.

Style of Play

A combative and hard-working player, although he was capable of getting forward and playing in more advanced positions, Marouzi usually played in front of his team's back-line, where he mainly served as a defensive foil for his more offensive teammates, due to his creative style of play, as well as his ability to read the game, break down plays, mark and anticipate opponents, and time his challenges. In this role, he was known in particular for his acceleration, positional sense, tactical discipline, intelligence, and ball-winning ability; although he was not the fastest, his technical skills and accurate decision making under pressure, made him an irreplaceable key in Zebelz and later in Here 4 beer.

He was also highly regarded throughout his career for being capable of functioning as a deep-lying playmaker for his team, due to his ability to dictate the tempo of his team's play in midfield with his short, efficient passing game, which allowed him to link up the defense with the attack effectively after winning back possession.

Personal Life

Marouzi has stated in many interviews that he is a firm believer of social justice and Marijuana! He admires the work of British philosopher and economist Frank Plumpton Ramsey. Many consider him the father of "kirete haji" philosophy, which has been popularized through his persona. He also believes that " Achilles' heel of Achilles is his heel."

Addiction to Marijuana

Marouzi is a heavy recreational and professional smoker of Marijuana! He publicly and privately endorses the substance, stating that he is proud of his infamous nickname "Bangi" . "I wear it as a badge of honor, although I don't believe in badges, honor or any of that shit. kirete haji...." he said in an interview with Toronto Star.

His persistence in the substance abuse caused his teammates to hold an intervention for him during his season with Zebelz, especially after their humiliating loss against Barbarians. While it seems that Marouzi has finally gotten the problem under control, he tweeted about how he's high on relatively less important matches.
