EverCam ( /ɛvɛrˈkæm/) (formerly PowerCam) is a screen and presentation recording software which provides simple editing features. With EverCam, users can create e-learning videos and software demonstrations via screencast or an add-in button to Microsoft PowerPoint[2]. When the video is ready, EverCam allows users to save the video in multiple output formats (MP3, MP4 or WMV) that can be compatible with any learning management system. EverCam also offers Camdemy, a free platform with many useful e-learning features such as FAQ, Key Point, Index, etc. Users can upload videos and discuss in the camdemy community.
EverCam consists of two major components:
- Screen & Presentation Recorder - A stand-alone screen and presentation recorder. Users can choose whether to record webcam video along with the recording.
- EverCam Editor - Unlike the traditional timeline-based editing mode, EverCam’s slide-based interface allows users to click on the auto-generated indexes and jump to specific time points directly.
Screen & Presentation Recorder
[edit]With EverCam, the presenter can record screen activities, or click on the Microsoft PowerPoint add-in button to record and start presenting from the current slide simultaneously. During the screen capturing, the presenter can pause or continue recording at any time point, and has these multiple clips combine easily. Besides the microphone audio, EverCam also allows users to include system audio in the videos.
EverCam Editor
[edit]After recording, users can insert existing videos, split, rearrange the order, import and export the clips in the EverCam editor. The screen captures can be zoomed in on a selected area, or have drawings, highlights, mosaic effect, and also different shapes of callouts with text descriptions.
Another advanced feature EverCam offers is to allow users to finish the screen-capture first, and then re-record the narration while playing back the recorded content in the audio editor, as well as the ability to split, import, remove, change the volume of the audio. Users can also add background music with fade in and fade out effect.
