[edit]Design studies is an academic discipline about critical understanding of design and its effects. One of the first to create this study was Victor Margolin who founded the study in the US. Very wide study with many ideals and theories. Also creates scholar work for architecture, urban planning, and policy. Recognizes design is simply one aspect of a larger ideal.
History
Traced back to the early 1960's bringing together academics and practitioners who shared interests in new approaches to the process of designing. Conferences were held in 60's and 70's that continued the development of the field. In the 80's the ideal of design slightly shifted as science was shifting to more from learning from design. First issue of "design studies" touched on this topic. In 1995 Victor Margolin contributed with the idea of "Design Studies" Addressing the ideas of conception and planing production, form, distribution, and use. His ideals changed the foundation of this field and pushed this field to become scholarly field.

Also in places like Cuba design was influenced by the crisis of modern ideology and escaping poverty. Each country has their own history and development in this field.

This section talks on the influence of this field and also how issues in ethics have caused some issues in the community and how its underdeveloped. Then the concepts of this show its not bound by technology but is ever transforming by its own nature. Design has a massive role in everyday life its in every single thing we read and look at.
Research methods
Speaking on how researchers look into these fields. Also explain the Actor-Network Theory which a research framework where they see how designed objects act and consider the physical and nonphysical interactions which revolve around the objects.
Journals and Professional Associations .
This is the last section and it shows all the different journals that are related to Design studies and each has a working link. Finally is a short section on the Design Research Society(DRS) which is dedicated to promoting and developing the field.
Usage
[edit]This article does a fantastic job of giving detailed and well informed information. Each passage if packed full of quotes and links to working pages. While reading this it has a very dry and academic feel to it when reading. But that's how an article about design studies should be. As this article is here to give information to the reader and let them see the full history of the field. Every section is done well with no spelling errors and amazing usage of links and references. This is how a wiki page should be when it comes to finding information.
