In probability theory, an outcome is an element of a probability space's sample space, $\Omega$.

When throwing two dice, for instance, the throws {1,3} and {2,5} are outcomes. An outcome is different than an event. An event is a subset of a probability space's sample space, not an element of it. When throwing two dice, the set of all and only outcomes with all even numbers whose sum exceeds 7 is the event

$\{\{2,6\},\{4,4\},\{4,6\},\{6,6\}\}\!\;$.
