Elisabeth Agnes Gundolf (née Salomon, 10 November 1893 – 13 February 1958) was a German economist, writer, and translator. In addition to working at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, she served as translator of the work of Antonio Graziadei and editor of the collected poems of Karoline von Günderrode. She also edited and posthumously published the works of her husband, Friedrich Gundolf.
Biography
[edit]Elisabeth Salomon was born in Hirschberg im Riesengebirge, Silesia (today Jelenia Góra, Poland) in 1893 to a Jewish family. Her father, Max Salomon, was a medical professional. Her mother, Rose (née Hahn) died in 1908. Elisabeth's brother, Friedrich Salomon, was a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany;[1] her sister Anna was married to the Austrian psychologist Siegfried Bernfeld. A portion of her parents' correspondence is preserved in the archives of the Ecole d'Humanité in Switzerland.[2]
Gundolf died at Churchill Hospital in Oxford, England, on 13 February 1958.
