Talk section formatting

[edit]

Line and paragraph breaks

[edit]

The tag
should be used to form line breaks, and to make informal paragraph indents, use
{{spaces|5}} :

Top level comment. — Retroflexivitytalk ❘ contribs] 05:49, 3 March 2022 (UTC)
This comment is a reply.
It has two paragraphs. The second features this meaningless text. Did you know that template:lipsum introduces a bunch of unwelcome formatting to everything? That's pretty annoying. I just wanted a whole lot of words. The additional formatting sort of defeats the purpose of the canonical Lipsum as I remember it, in that it is usually used to test various formatting possibilities, but with all the extra formatting, it feels sort of use useless. — Retroflexivitytalk ❘ contribs] 05:49, 3 March 2022 (UTC)

Quotations

[edit]

To quote other users posts, use green talk quotes: an inline talk quote looks like this: "Sample quote", and uses template:tq.

A talk block quote looks like this:

Another Sample Quote. What?
— User:Retroflexivity

and uses template:tqb.

If quoting other material, a block quote should use template:qf:

Yet another sample quote.

Still worthless!

In three paragraphs!
— no source

Using the box makes it obvious that the quote isn't another post in the talk page.
