Moana (2016 film)

Why you have chosen this article to evaluate?

[edit]

(Briefly explain why you chose it, why it matters, and what your preliminary impression of it was.)

I chose this article because I just returned from New Zealand and I'm interested in how the movie captures Māori culture! It matters because there are very few American/Westernized movies that have Polynesian characters, let alone Polynesian culture being critical to the plot; the movie also is animated, which tailors this movie to a younger audience! Teaching the next generation about different cultures is extremely important. My preliminary impression of the article was that it covered the development and Polynesian mythology well.

(Compose a detailed evaluation of the article here, considering each of the key aspects listed above. Consider the guiding questions, and check out the examples of what a useful Wikipedia article evaluation looks like.)

The lead section, while informative, is overly detailed and convoluted with names. These could be mentioned in a later segment of the article. It includes a brief description of the article's main points, such as plot, cast, and reception. The article has 127 sources, with everything being backed up by reputable sources (especially information on localization and Polynesian mythology/culture). The talk page shows that this article has been viewed enough times in the past week that it appears on the Top 25 report, meaning that the article is required and reliable. There are well-captioned photos to help understand the content, the article is neutral, and overall, it is well-developed.
