Daniela "Dany" Villarreal Vélez (born 30 January 2000) is a Mexican musician who is the lead singer guitarist and a songwriter in the rock band The Warning.[1] Life and Career Villarreal was born in San Pedro Monterrey, Mexico. She went to a bilingual high school (Liceo de Monterrey Redwood) which accounts for her fluency in her native Spanish and in English.

As a child, she took lessons in classical piano, and began guitar lessons at the age of six. Her father, then the owner of a recording studio, and her mother played a wide range of rock 'n roll at home. That and playing the video game Rock Band led her to rock music. Her father uploaded multiple videos to YouTube of his three daughters playing well-known pop and rock hits.[2][3]

In 2013, the Villarreal sisters formed The Warning. Guitarist Daniela and drummer Paulina trade lead vocal duties, with bassist Ale backing vocals.

In 2014, Kirk Hammett of Metallica saw a video of the three sisters playing a cover of Metallica's "Enter Sandman", which led Hammett to praise Paulina's drumming in a tweet.<ref>https://x.com/KirkHammett/status/586590482169368577?lang=en<ref>

In 2015, after the "Enter Sandman" video went viral, Villarreal sisters were invited to The Ellen Show as musical guests. Ellen DeGeneres supported them with a financial donation that helped to get a scholarship to attend Berkelee College of Music's five-week program[7] – with an age waiver, because the required entry age level for this program was 14 years. By that time, Paulina Villarreal was already writing lyrics and music, and the band's first EP was recorded and released in 2015.[8]
