5-Second Films, also written as 5 Second Films, is an internet sketch comedy team from Los Angeles. Like their name suggests, the shorts they produce only run for five seconds; however, they allot extra seconds for movie title and "The End" slide cards, bumping the actual time to eight seconds. On occasion they can produce much longer films, either compilations of similar films to create a running gag, or "special" episodes that are one continuous sketch.
Most episodes consist of pop culture, movie parodies, sexual innuendo, or the simply absurd. There is usually no significance to the individual episodes in regard to the time and place they were made, resembling a representation of the randomness of everyday life.
5sf releases a new 5-second film every Monday thru Friday since 2008 and currently have over 1,000 films online.

Running Gags
[edit]There are many recurring gags throughout the series' production, occasionally making repeat returns or mentions in later episodes.
- Elliot Zanderflex: A smooth-talking, sex-crazed man who continuously chases after women in more and more absurd ways.
- Jon Worley Salesman: A generic infomercial salesman, selling absurd products such as a spatula to flip babies and an electric saw for cutting up remains of a murder victim.
- C-Pain: Brian Firenzi's cat, often the subject of abuse or animal jokes.
- Johnny Quickdeath: A boy who tends to die instantly in absurd circumstances, such as running with scissors.
- Chico, California: A fictitious town based on the real city, believed to be full of dysfunctional and incompetent citizens.
- Officer Sminkle: An incompetent police officer from Chico.
- Renegade Pervert: A spoof of outlaw dramas centering on a nameless pervert as he exploits women at work and in the police force.
- Hipster Superman: The polar opposite of Superman, he is young, vegan, obsessed with indie music, and uses illegal drugs. He also has used no special abilities to this point save for flying. He is a spoof of the college hipster stereotype.
- A Warning From the Future: Two scientists are attempting to discover the secret to time travel when one shouts "Eureka!" only for the other to appear in a cloud of smoke, apparently having traveled back from the future (likely shortly after the incident) bringing back evidence of some sort of absurd incident.
