NthCode (pronounced /ˈnθ koʊd/; simplified Chinese: 恩氏科诺) is a software company located in Beijing, China.

[edit]NthCode Player is Internet TV software consumer electronics manufacturers can embed inside their televisions, set-top boxes, and other home electronics so consumers can find and play music and videos from computers on their home networks and Internet web sites.
Nthcode Player is based on Embedded Linux. It accesses media from home networks using the Samba and UPnP protocols, and it includes a WebKit-based browser so that users can connect to Internet web sites to find, stream, and download media using the RTSP, HTTP, and BitTorrent protocols.[2][3]
History
[edit]NthCode was founded in Beijing, China on August 24, 2005 by American expatriate Peter McDermott, who serves as CEO. NthCode started as a software consultancy and contracting company until announcing their first product, NthCode Player, on February 25, 2009.[1][2][3]
Name
[edit]The name NthCode is a combination of the mathematical term, nth, which can mean extreme or utmost, and the slang computer term code, which is short for source code, the text statements computer programmers write to build computer programs.[1]
