Ilan Arboleda (born November 27, 1975) is an American film and television producer. He is the co-founder and co-CEO of CreativeChaos vmg and media company based in New York City. He won the Gracie Award for the Alliance for Women in Media and was nominated for an Emmy Award and the National Board of Review for the film Casting By (2013).[1][2]

llan is currently the managing partner and producer at CreativeChaos vmg, a company he co-founded in 2010 with Tom Donahue and Steve Edwards with the intention of creating socially disruptive content. In addition to his duties as the primary day-to-day producer on all CreativeChaos projects, including the award winning HBO film Casting By (which was nominated for National Board of Review and for an Emmy and won the Gracie Award in 2013), he oversees all creative development, business development, finance and operations for the company. Additionally, the company produced and released Ponies in 2012 (New York Times Critic’s Pick) and Guest of Cindy Sherman. [3] [4]

Currently in production in partnership with Geena Davis and the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media is an untitled film about Gender In Hollywood.[5] The film will explore the historical lack of gender parity and the solutions that are hiding in plain sight. In post-production is Davi’s Way, about an aging character actor and his obsession with Frank Sinatra.

Ilan’s latest feature, Thank You for Your Service, which premiered in September of 2016, is about the mental health crisis in the military.[6] The film follows four incredible veterans interweaving their stories with interviews from Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, General David Petraeus, Chairman of the Joint Chief Admiral Mike Mullen, General Peter Chiarelli, Senator Patty Murray, General Loree Sutton, Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Gary Sinise, Sebastian Junger and the leaders in the US mental health policy. The film premiered at DOC NYC in November 2015.[7]

Prior to CreativeChaos, Ilan was COO and Senior Vice-President for three years at Go Go Luckey Entertainment, a television production company with more than two dozen series and hundreds of hours of programming under its belt including: Paranormal State (A&E), Decoded (History Channel), and Prophets of Science Fiction (Discovery Networks) to name a few. A jack-of-all-trades for Go Go Luckey, he oversaw strategy, digital content, international sales, the film division - where he produced the dark thriller The Occupants - 2014 (Fangoria/Shoreline Entertainment), was heavily involved in the content creation and development of several series, and was responsible for the company’s financial reporting.[8]

From 2003-2009, Ilan was the managing director/owner at Cinapse, where he developed slate funds, secured financing for independent films, and helped to design various entertainment portfolio funds. Additionally, during this time, he was a producer on The Babysitters starring John Leguizamo and Cynthia Nixon released theatrically in April of 2008 (Peace Arch Entertainment).[9][10] Through Cinapse’s distribution arm, The Institution, Ilan released the films Walking On Dead Fish and Owl and the Sparrow to critical success in 2008.[11] He also consulted for media funds and international media funds in places as diverse as Dubai, Dakar, Macau, Hong Kong, and Cebu.

In 2005, Ilan and a group of partners, based on their previous success with the acclaimed film Maria Full of Grace, created Dynamo Capital, a Latin American film fund based in Colombia, financing 4-5 films per year. He was the Executive Producer of Satanás (The Little Film Company, CineColombia), the company’s first film, which was Colombia’s selection for the Academy Awards in 2008. Among its varied slate of films, the company also produced Dog Eat Dog (Sundance 2008), Colombia’s nomination for the Academy Award in 2009, and Contracorriente which won the World Cinema Audience Award: Dramatic at Sundance in 2010.[12]

Ilan got his start working for esteemed producers Alex Rose and Mario Iscovich where he assisted in the making of the Garry Marshall films The Other Sister (Disney) and Runaway Bride (Paramount).

Arboleda’s films have appeared in over 50 film festivals including Toronto International Film Festival, New York Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival, Sundance, Los Angeles Film Festival, Hong Kong International Film Festival, International Istanbul Film Festival, Monte Carlo, Miami International Film Festival, Guadalajara International Film Festival, Cartagena Film Festival, Chicago International Film Festival, and San Sebastián International Film Festival among others. His films have been released theatrically, broadcast and digitally around the world.

He holds a degree from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.
