Homework

First - User page

• Finish setting up your Userpage. Be sure to mention "translation class" and/or "looking forward to improving WP" (in your own words).
• But you should also put up some links or images or anything else you find on WP on your Userpage to tell us something about yourself because:

 When we meet again, everyone will - briefly! - introduce themselves and their page to the group.

Next - Take a tour of Wikipedia

• Take a look at the work and organization of past semesters
• Cruise through the "behind-the-scenes" pages we saw on Day 1
• Click on "Talk" and "View History" of multiple, random pages to see what's going on.
• Check out at least three other Userpages (outside of our group!)
• Up to this point: If you have any questions or observations, please make a note of these and bring them to our next session.

Then - Compare articles

• Compare the articles "Music" (En) and "Musik" (Dt) and any other language you can. Make a careful note of the differences you see, for ex., in structure, tone, emphasis, content, organization, phrasing, length, topics, etc., etc.
• Now do the same thing with a different (universal) topic of your own choosing. Please also take notes on this one.
• Do you notice any patterns? Be prepared to talk about these during our next session.

Finally - Make suggestions

• Link three suggestions for us to translate to your Userpage. Be sure to include the WTT (words to translate) for each one. One of the three should be a minimum of 1000 WTT but optimally at least 1200 WTT.
