Vadim Lvovich Stefanuk is a full Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences and International Informatics Academy, Vice-President of Russian Association for Artificial Intelligence [1] Doctor of Technical Sciences , Leading Researcher in the Institute for Information Transmission Problems of Russian Academy[2]. Professor of Computer Science Dept. of Peoples' Friendship University of Russia [3]. Fellow of the European Coordinating Committee for Artificial Intelligence. [4]. The author of over 220 books and papers published in Russian and international journals or conference proceedings.

Early life and education

Prof. Vadim Stefanuk was born in Moscow, Russia July 13, 1939. He graduated from Moscow State University in 1962, Physics Department, with special orientation to the learning automate study. He defended his Candidate of Science (Ph.D.), in the Institute for Control Problems, Moscow, in 1968. The thesis carried the title: "Collective automata behavior and the problem of stable local control in a communication system." . In 1990 he received the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences (Dr.Sc.) , from Moscow Institute for Electronic Machinery, for the thesis on: "Local organization of expedient behavior of technical systems."

Prof. Vadim Stefanuk has extended works in various fields related to Artificial intelligences and machine learning,

  • Automated Discovery of Problem Representations, Semiotic Approach.
  • A Quasistatic approach to Dynamics in Expert Systems.
  • The Learning Level Analysis for Tutoring System.
  • The axiomatic approach to Evidence Combination in Expert Systems.
  • The concept of Meta Expert Systems.
  • A concept of Intellectual Computer Operating System.
  • Theory of Category description of Knowledge Representation and Learning.
  • An optimal Pattern Matching in a chaotic data base.
  • A local approach to Problem Representation in Artificial Intelligence.
  • Local control of the Collective of Radio Stations (mobile communication).
  • Collective Behavior of Automata.

Publications

Prof. Vadim Stefanuk has published more than 220 papers and books. Since 1970 he has translated from English into Russian 21 books on Artificial Intelligence, theory and applications, including those by N.Nilsson, P.Winston, M.Minsky, E.Hunt, R.Duda, P.Heart., J.von Neuman, and many others.
