Imagica is a themed family holiday destination located in Khopoli (near Mumbai and Pune). It opened in 2013, and currently encompasses multiple entertainment Parks, namely the Theme Park, Water Park, Snow Park, House of Stars, Eyelusion, Gaming Zone, and the Novotel Imagica Khopoli hotel.
Located in Khopoli (part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region), off the Mumbai Pune Expressway in Maharashtra, Imagica is owned and operated by Adlabs Entertainment Limited and promoted by Manmohan Shetty[1]. It is currently among the largest man-made family destinations in India, able to accommodate upwards of 15,000 visitors per day, and having hosted over 7.5mn guests since launch[2]. Imagica features India's fastest roller coaster, Hot Wheels Nitro, as well the largest indoor roller coaster and the first movie-themed entertainment ride, Mr. India - The Ride.
History
[edit]Promoted by Manmohan Shetty as a followup venture to his Adlabs theatre chain. After a two year development and gestation period, the first park, Imagica Theme Park, was opened to the public in April 2013. Additional Parks were added - the Water Park in 2014[3], the Snow Park in 2016[4], House of Stars in May 2018. The destination offers a mix of entertainment, rides, dining, shopping and accommodation at a single location. Imagica is a major tourist attraction and among the top places to visit in Maharashtra [5]. The destination attracts tourists from across India, primarily from the Mumbai-Pune region, but also from Rest of Maharashtra and Gujarat[6]. Previously, the Theme Park was called Imagica, while the Water Park was called Aquamagica. A re-branding exercise in April 2016 brought all Parks under the Imagica umbrella.
Operating Hours and Timings
[edit]Imagica is open year-round. During peak season (approx. April-June and Nov-Jan) it may remain open for 1-2 hours longer.

Imagica Theme Park
[edit]The Theme Park has an estimated daily capacity of 15,000 visitors. It features 25 attractions, retail shopping stores, and 5 restaurants, in addition to outdoor rides, indoor air conditioned rides and themed rides.
Roller Coasters
[edit]- Hot Wheels Nitro - a high-speed roller coaster manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard, with a height of 132 feet (40 m) and track length of 2,800 feet (850 m)[7]. It has a top speed of 104.9 kilometres per hour (65.2 mph). In 2018, as part of a branding partnership, the ride was renamed from Nitro to Hot Wheels Nitro[8].
- Deep Space - this indoor roller coaster is constructed inside a massive dome. Each car is launched into a deep space-themed enclosure featuring galaxies and black holes, various planets and meteors. The cars travel at speeds upto 80.5 kilometres per hour (50.0 mph) via a Linear Synchronous Motor (LSM) magnetic launch.
- Chhota Bheem - The Ride - a themed outdoor kids' roller coaster, it was launched in partnership with Green Gold Animation in 2018, and features the Chhota Bheem characters and theme[9].
- Gold Rush - an 'Old American' themed roller coaster ride, the train is launched at a speed of 65 kilometres per hour (40 mph) and enters a track designed to have multiple twists and turns. The visual design of the ride and cars mimic gold mining, harking back to the Wild Wild West of the USA.
- Dare 2 Drop - this vertical outdoor ride shoots riders up to a height of over 132 feet (40 m) at 72 miles per hour (116 km/h) and drops down, at similar speeds[10]. The ride repeats this action with unexpected bursts of vertical motion.
- Scream Machine - an outdoor thrill ride, it features a giant, rotating pendulum. At its peak, the ride offers guests a bird's eye view of Imagica and the surrounding area, albeit as you spin and swing.
- I for India - an indoor themed ride, it elevates riders and presents an aerial view of several key Indian sights, landscapes and festivals on a IMAX-style 90-foot wide screen. The journey spans across 6182 miles, covering 59 monuments. The original footage captured across the states of India, was of over 10 hours. In order to shoot the footage from a helicopter, a camera was rigged on 3 axes, and a 6-dimension gyroscope with a hi-definition camera was mounted. It is the only attraction in the park that is built entirely in India. It took the creators, Mr. Romesh Sharma and Mr. Manmohan Shetty, up to 18 months to organize for all necessary licenses required and to shoot the film on such a scale.
- Mr. India - an indoor themed ride based on the 1987 Bollywood film "Mr.India, starring Mr. India, voiced by Anil Kapoor. The ride features key characters from the film - Seema voiced by Sridevi, Calendar, and a new character - Toota Phoota, in a new storyline. The immersive motion simulation ride also features the popular villain, Mogambo voiced by Amrish Puri,. The ride in itself imitates the experience of other rides in the park like the Scream Machine, Dare 2 Drop, Hot Wheels Nitro, Salimgarh, Alibaba, and Rajasauras. The ride is operated by a pneumatic system powered by compressed air.
- Rajasaurus River Adventure - a science-fiction themed flume ride, styled with prehistoric elements. The storyline involves a time machine invented by Dr. Krishna Roy, a scientist who finds fossils of the rare Rajasaurus dinosaur at the basin of the river Narmada. The ride has been designed by Hafema and covers information about over 25 different kinds of dinosaurs.
- Salimgarh - an indoor dark ride with elaborate sets and mechanical props that are designed to give a realistic feel of being in a haunted castle. The car navigates guests while exposing them to the story of the fictitious realm of Salimgarh through frightening visuals and sound effects.
- The Detective Bow Wow Show - a live interactive comedy show, featuring an animatronic puppet, the first of its kind in India. The protagonist, an animated dog, Detective Bow Wow, is portrayed as a wise-cracking yet incompetent detective, who often finds himself entangled with problems he creates for himself. A machine called ‘The Rig’ is used to operate the animated character. ‘The Rig’ has been manufactured and designed by The Jim Henson Company.
- Alibaba aur Chalis Chorr an indoor themed ride based on the popular folk tale Alibaba and the 40 Thieves. Designed to give visitors a feeling of being inside a video game, guests must use laser guns fitted on their cars to battle thieves bent on stealing treasures.
- Wrath of the Gods - an indoor attraction that blends live mechanical theatrics, special effects and multimedia. The ride explores the connection that lies between man and nature by personifying the 3 elements of nature as gods. The visitors experience the theatrics of wind, fire and water in the course of the ride.
- Prince of the Dark Waters – Cinema 360 - an indoor movie experience that is screened on a 360° dome, spread across 3,100 square feet (290 m2). The film tells the story of a mermaid's journey in the deep dark waters of the ocean.
- Motion Box Theatre - an indoor 4D cinema experience featuring a stereoscopic 2D and 3D films, with additional experiences by way of vibration, aromas etc. The ride system is supplied by Imagine That Design and Production Inc., and features a hydraulic system, originally produced for Artists Journey Seattle, Washington. The ride includes six DOF simulators with 40 seats, an air delivery system and a seat belt locking system.
- Mambo Chai Chama - meaning 'crazy tea party', is a classic tea cups ride. This is indoor ride constitutes tea-cup shaped carts. All the cups rotate individually in different directions, while a central platform itself rotates at speed.
- Splash Ahoy - an outdoor pirate-themed ride for children, comprising boats outfitted with water guns.
- Bump It Boats - an outdoor water ride, based on the traditional Bumper Cars.
- Save the Pirate - an outdoor themed ride for children, that creates a vertical rowing experience allowing guests to compete with each other based on the speed at which they row.
- Loch Ness Expplorers an outdoor themed family flume ride, based on mythical Loch Ness monster. The water coaster ride includes mini twists, turns and drops. The seats are designed like floating wooden logs and can accommodate up to 2 people. The mechanical Loch Ness monster creates rapids on the flume making it an interesting ride for both, the kids and parents.
- Hot Wheels Driving School - the outdoor driving attraction that featuring scale cars that children can control, whilst learning the basic rules of driving and road safety. A driving assistant guides the children and helps them manoeuvre through the arena. In 2018, the ride was renamed from Happy Wheelss - Driving Driving School[11].
- Humpty's Fall - an outdoor kids' ride, this mini drop tower is similar to the larger, Dare 2 Drop. It involves a steady elevation to a height of 10 metres (33 ft). The ride is also designed to rotate 360 degrees while it goes upwards and downwards.
- Wagon-O–O–Wheel - a mini Ferris wheel designed for children, it is themed to mimic Wild West gypsy wagons. The 6 carts complete clockwise motions, at height of 10 metres (33 ft).
- Tubbby Takes Off - an outdoor ride for children, it features an elevated merry-go-round ride, based on the original Imagica character, Tubbby, a flying elephant.
- The Magic Carousel - a classic carousel ride for children.
- Attractions - with regular announcements throughout the day, visitors can catch interesting performances in the Theme Park, from acrobats to dancers to magicians performing street magic shows.
- The Grand Imagica Parade - a popular attraction, the parade features B-Boyers, hip-hoppers, magicians, stilt walkers, clowns, jugglers and unicyclists dancing and performing as they move through the streets of Imagica. The act is also accompanied by popular Imagica characters like Tubbby, Roberto, Rajasaurus, Mogambo, Chhota Bheem, and Mr. India. The parade is held every evening during peak seasons.
Restaurants
[edit]The theme has 5 uniquely designed restaurants that offer a host of food options to the visitors.
- Roberto's Food Court - a purely vegetarian restaurant, it serves various cuisines ranging from Indian, Mexican, Italian to Pan-Asian. This restaurant also has a separate kitchen for Jain meals.
- The Imagica Capital - a buffet exclusive restaurant serving Indian style food from states across India.
- Red Bonnet American Diner - a restaurant styled as a classic All-American Diner, serving both vegetarian and non-vegetarian fast food. The place is renowned for its burgers and dogs.
- Arrmada - a pirate ship-themed restaurant with a Spanish setting that overlooks a view of the lagoon. The Upper Deck offers views of the lagoon, Capital, and ride areas. During events, this serves as a VIP arena.
- Zeze Bar+Grill - styled as an African tribal outpost, it serves food that is a fusion of African and Indian cuisine, like peri-peri chicken wings, paneer steak, spicy wraps and more.
Imagica Water Park
[edit]The Imagica Water Park, formerly known as Aquamagica, is a Mykonos themed, international standard water park, adjacent to the Theme Park. It has 13 rides and 3 active restaurants. It also hosts a music party with a live DJ every weekend.
Rides
[edit]- Loopy Woopy - an AquaLoop style ride that plummets guests through a 39 feet (12 m) vertical free-fall drop into an inclined loop before exiting into a run-out chute.
- Zip Zap Zoom - a high-speed mat racer that sends riders through enclosed tubes that run closely alongside each other.
- Yell-O! - a water slide plunging riders feet-first into a series of twists and turns at high speeds.
- Swirl Whirl - a funnel slide that takes guests through a series of twists & turns, before plummeting them into the core of a funnel for near-vertical oscillations, before exiting the flume for the final plunge.
- The Screamer - a water slide involving a series of twists, turns and oscillations. The ride features “rattles” which change in alignment with the different lengths of the cylinders, giving the riders a completely different sensation at each turn.
- Raftaastic - a family raft ride, featuring speed fall down a water wall, with steep drops and turns.
- Splash - an open body water slide where guests experience multiple bumps and turns during the course of the ride.
- Boomeranggo - a half-pipe style water slide, where guests are shot up a water wall, experiencing brief moment of weightlessness before sliding back down.
- Soakerz - a family water slide, featuring steep drops and unexpected turns on a giant raft.
- The Pirate Bay - a large child-friendly themed attraction that has water slides and inner-tube slides with gentle speeds and slopes. It also has mini slides, water toys and pirate-themed characters.
- Floatsa - a lazy river-style experience with a gently current, designed for relaxation.
- Wacky Wavess - an artificial wave pool, where ocean-like waves are formed at regular intervals.
- Twisty Turvy - a water slide featuring steep drops and curves, it shoots guests uphill on water jets and takes them through an enclosed flume into a splashdown pool.
- Zooballoo - a music and water attraction for children featuring five wild animals as characters. The ride plays music and simultaneously splashes the children with water, as they dance along.
Restaurants
[edit]The Water Park has 3 restaurants that offer a host of food & beverage options to the visitors.
- Red Bonnet Express a express version of restaurant styled as a classic All-American Diner offering burgers, fried chicken, hot dogs, etc.
- Sunbeatz - a restaurant offering Lebanese street food, yummy rolls, freshly squeezed juices, shakes, smoothies and tropical mocktails.
- Ammos - a street food inspired food court offering multiple cuisines including north Indian, Mexican, Oriental, Pan-Asian and Mumbai street food. The restaurant also has an exclusive Jain section.
Safety
[edit]The park has certified lifeguards for all the attractions. A first aid station with emergency medical technicians is easily accessible at the park. The park also provides life jackets to the rides wherever it is necessary. A locker facility is available to keep all personal belongings safe and secure.

Imagica Snow Park
[edit]The Imagica Snow Park is a one-of-a-kind indoor snow-based theme park. The park is spread across an area of 15,000 square feet (1,400 m2), making it one of India’s largest indoor snow parks.
Activities
[edit]- Snow slides - the classic snow slides, allow guests to slide down an elevated hill side using special mats.
- Toboggan rides - guests may use individual toboggans and slide down a snow mount featuring gentle twists.
- Basketball - a basketball ring in the snow area allows guests to play.
- Dance floor - an ice dance floor featuring popular dance music.
- Mountain climbing - guests can experience mountain climbing at a small-scale, climbing a wall to get a bird's eye view of the entire snow village.
- Restaurant/ Café - a café within the Snow Park serves hot and cold beverages and light snacks.
Safety
[edit]The snow is 100% safe, edible and contains no chemicals or preservatives. This comestible snow is prepared by throwing RO purified water at high speeds in an enormous condenser, which condenses the water droplets to generate soft snow at −5 °C (23 °F). In order to maintain health and safety, the right clothing and footwear is essential in order to enter the snow area. A snow jacket, a pair of gloves, boots and earplugs will be provided during the gearing up time. Visitors must ensure that they are carrying socks for themselves. They should also avoid wearing jewelry in the snow zone.
House of Stars
[edit]A new Park added in 2018, it is the first official Bollywood Hall of Fame, created in technical collaboration with Kloneworld Entertainment. Featuring life-size 3D-printed and clay-modeled figurines in iconic film sets, the content and characters have been licensed from Dharma Productions, Fox Star Studios India, Arka Mediaworks, and others[12].
Eyelusion
[edit]A new Park added in 2018, it featured 3D illusions and augmented reality experiences.
Novotel Imagica
[edit]Novotel Imagica Khopoli is a 4-star hotel with 287 rooms. The hotel offers stay packages that include room stay, breakfast, and access to the Theme Park and Water Park. The hotel includes swimming pool, children's activity center, meeting room facilities, speciality restaurants, gym, and banquet halls for conferences and weddings.

Retail Stores
[edit]A variety of merchandise and souvenirs inspired by the rides and their themes can be picked up from around the park via the pop-up stores. Visitors can also purchase candid photographs of different sizes at different rates from the digi-photo store around the park. Merchandise can also be picked up from the retail store in Novotel Imagica.
Safety and Security
[edit]All the rides at Adlabs Imagica are designed keeping utmost safety in mind. The vendors are compliant with international standards such as ASTM, European or EN Standard, with all international safety certifications in place. The TUV SUD South Asia Pvt. Ltd. has been engaged to carry out inspection, testing and installation certification.
