Ajam Emiratis

- regarding merge with Iranians in the United Arab Emirates. Hey, I’m Emirati of Ajam/Achomi/Larestani/Khodmooni/whatever you wanna call it origin as well. “Ajam” is absolutely not a slur, at least not in the modern context of the UAE. It’s a word we ourselves use to describe ourselves. My reasoning for refusing the merge is that there’s a pretty big difference between “Ajam-Emiratis” or “Iranian-Emiratis” and “Emiratis in the United Arab Emirates.” the former refers exclusively to Emiratis of Iranian origin while the latter is a catch-all article for both Iranian-Emiratis AND non-Emirati Iranians in the UAE. Ajam-Emiratis are a distinct ethnic group that are terribly underrepresented and misconstrued.
