IDA, Stan Franklin's Intelligent Distribution Agent, is an agent that was created to assist the US Navy in disguishing where each sailor belonged based on their skills, as well as where the Navy needed them most. IDA was made to interpret each sailors individual skills through conversations, emails, and many databases contatining content related to their actions. Along with this, IDA was also responsible for obiding all Navy policies and making sure each job was properly filled with the individual with the correct requirements. She was to be able to communicate with sailors to the best of her ability to fulfill the needs of each sailor. IDA was designed to be more than a service for the Navy, she has the capabilites of a conceptual model and a computional model of global workspace theory regarding other topics and ideas. A research group in Memphis created a Java platform with a number of modules such as perception, workspace, association memory, consciousness mechanism, action selection, constraint satisfaction, deliberation, voluntary action, negotiation, metacognition, and learning. Each of these will be described in more detail, but they all conclude that IDA is functionally conscious, phenonenal consciousness is still to be determined.
