Fanny León Cordero
[edit]Fanny León Cordero (born in October 15, 1920) was an Ecuadorian jurist and poet.[1] In 1947 she became the first woman to hold the position of judge in the history of Ecuador.[2]

Biography
[edit]She finished her secondary school at the male High School Benigno Malo in Cuenca, becoming in 1939 one of the first women to graduate there. Thanks to her high grades, she received the "Juan Bautista Vásquez" merit medal and a scholarship by the municipality of Cuenca to carry out her higher studies at the Central University of Ecuador. In 1945 she graduated from a degree in legal sciences with the best marks of her promotion. Later, she obtained the title of doctor in jurisprudence.[3]
