Susheel Cleatus (born July 10, 1947) is a Plastic Surgeon and author from India. His formative education was in South India; Schooling in Kerala and Pre-University studies at St.Josph's College, Tiruchirapalli in Tamil Nadu.

Early life

Susheel Cleatus is the third of his parent’s four children.

He was born in 1947 in Pallithode, Kerala, India. Susheel Cleatus graduated in Medicine from the St. Johns Medical College, Bengaluru and specialised in Plastic Surgery in the United Kingdom, Europe and USA. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons.

Career

Susheel Cleatus trained in Plastic Surgery with world renown surgeons in the speciality: Philip Stell, Ian Jackson, JSP Wilson, Rodolphe Meyer, Michel Stricker, Joseph McCarthy. During surgical training he worked in leading hospitals in UK, Europe and USA: St George's Hospital, Westminster Hospital, & Royal Marsden Hospital London, Canniesburn Hospital Bearsden, CHRU de Nancy France, University Hospital Lausanne, Bellevue Hospital New York.

Till retiring Susheel Cleatus was Senior Consultant Plastic Surgeon at St.Philomena's Hospital, CSI Hospital & Fortis Hospital, Bengaluru and Honorary Professor and Consultant Plastic Surgeon to the Indian Armed Forces at the Command Hospital Teaching, Bangalore. In retirement he provides voluntary services to charitable hospitals and health care establishments.

Other work

Susheel Cleatus is associated with several charities and N.G.O.s supporting health care for the compromised, specially in the field of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery. He does pro bono work in Plastic Surgery for those in need.

Susheel Cleatus was involved in academic writing and has published many articles in International medical and research journals from early in in his career. Later he moved to general writing and has published several books of literary fiction.

Writing

Susheel Cleatus has medical articles published in leading medical journals like the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine and journalistic articles in news papers and magazines like the Inquest from early in his medical career.

His first book of fiction “An Ordinary Life” was a look at lives in healthcare with a touch of humour. Later books are more in the genre of literary fiction and include short story collections dealing with contrasting avenues of life.

Susheel Cleatus is married. He has a son and a daughter.
