Semantinet is an Israeli Startup Company founded in December 2006 and dedicated to developing Semantic Web technologies and platforms.
Applications
[edit]Semantinet has released to date two applications to open Beta. The company's first application, initially released on the 14th of January 2009, is the Headup[1] Semantic Web Firefox extension. The application, last updated in July of 2009, enables users to highlight terms appearing in web content in order to discover related content provided in the extension's overlay window user interface.
The company's second application, first released in October 2009[2], is the Headup Wordpress plugin which automatically identifies and highlights topics appearing in publisher's web content. Users interacting with the plugin's highlights are provided related articles, images, videos, Tweets, etcetera via one of three configurable interfaces.

[edit]Tal Keinan - Founder and CEO
[edit]Prior to founding Semantinet, Tal worked at Morgan Stanley's Risk Management Department where he was in charge of the bank's Scenario Analysis product. Tal served in the communication department of the Israeli Army leading Computer Division (MAMRAM). Following his military service, Tal worked for the Israeli governmenr's Mission to the United States. In 2004, Tal graduated from Columbia University with a B.S in Computer Science and Economics.
Tal Muskal - Founder and CTO
[edit]Prior to founding SemantiNet, Tal worked at Go Networks as an embedded engineer conducting R&D. Tal served as a team leader in Israel's Army Intelligence Technology Unit.
Sagie Davidovich - Director of R&D
[edit]Prior to joining SemantiNet, Sagie co-founded the social search engine Delver
Nir Shimoni - VP Product & Strategy
[edit]Prior to joining Semantinet, Nir was VP Product and Strategy at Amobee. Prior to Amobee, Shimoni was Vice President of Product and Business Development at Eyeblaster Inc. Before Eyeblaster, Shimoni spent eight years at Radvision.
Funding
[edit]Semantinet is backed by Giza Venture Capital and a number of Angel Investors including Yossi Vardi[3], Jeff Pulver[4] and Sir Ronald Cohen. To date the company has raised US$4,400,000.
