Astro Busters
[edit]From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Astro Busters is an indie multidirectional shooter video game developed by Astrobuster Studios using Unity. Drawing on design influences from classic arcade games such as Asteroids, Gravity Force, and Xpilot, the game features physics-based movement, customizable spacecraft, and multiple combat-focused game modes. It is planned for release on Microsoft Windows via Steam, as well as iOS and Android platforms.
Gameplay
[edit]In Astro Busters, players control a spacecraft navigating through asteroid fields and enemy environments in a top-down perspective. The game emphasizes physics-driven spaceflight, real-time combat, and resource collection. Players can collect in-game currency in the form of coins and diamonds, which are used to unlock ship upgrades, cosmetics, and performance enhancements.
The full version of the game is expected to include both single-player and multiplayer modes. Gameplay modes include mission-based progression, survival challenges, cooperative play, and competitive deathmatch. The game also incorporates a leaderboard system that tracks high scores and player rankings.
Development
[edit]The game is being developed using Unity 6.0 by the independent studio Astrobuster Studios. According to the developer, the project began as an attempt to modernize the core mechanics of early space shooters with updated graphics and support for online features.[1]
Release
[edit]A playable demo of Astro Busters was released on Steam in early 2025. The game is scheduled to enter Early Access in July 2025, with a full release expected by the end of the year. Versions for iOS and Android are also in development. The game has applied for inclusion in the June 2025 edition of Steam Next Fest.[2]
Monetization
[edit]The mobile versions of the game will adopt a free-to-play model, with optional in-app purchases. According to the developer, these purchases will allow players to acquire ship upgrades and accelerate progression, but core gameplay will remain accessible without payment. The PC version is expected to be sold at a discounted price during its Early Access phase.[3]
Reception
[edit]As of May 2025, the game has not been reviewed by major publications. It has received limited exposure through online platforms and game storefronts, and its potential inclusion in Steam Next Fest 2025 is expected to increase visibility.
