Once, I have access to the appropriate sandbox, I want to add to the lead the fact that the boyfriend loophole is a gap in legislation, specifically in the Violence Against Women Act.
In the section about the History or Constitutional challenges, I may add another court case to the blurb. State v. Norman was a case of intimate partner violence, in which the plaintiff (Judy Norman) was a victim of intimate partner violence and went to jail for the murder of her husband, even though legal scholars and expert witnesses in psychology both argue that she was acting in self-defense. State v. Norman occurred prior to the Violence Against Women Act and prior to the notion of the boyfriend loophole, but it might be worth it to add to the boyfriend loophole Wikipedia page, in order to emphasize the importance of the legislation.
