- Sexism in American political elections (Sexism in American political elections)
- Article Evaluation
- This article is important because it delves into the major issue of sexism in elections in the United States. It mentions some of what we have discussed in class, such as the supply and demand for candidates and aspirant candidates. The article has shortcomings since it does not discuss elections past 2016, even though there has since been inherent sexism in American political elections; the article therefore must be updated. Lastly, the article is not written well and does not seem to be written from an apolitical perspective.

- Rachel Levine (Rachel Levine)
- Article Evaluation
- This article discusses Rachel Levine, the first openly transgender official confirmed by the United States Senate. She was nominated by President Biden to serve as the Assistant Secretary for Health. The article does not mention much about Levine, her policies, background, or hardships she faced as a trans woman in politics. I think that the article could be strengthened by focusing on specific policies Levine fought for and instated, her history fighting for LGBTQIA+ health, and how intersectionality affected her career (specifically as a white trans woman, as opposed to being a trans woman of color).

- Boyfriend loophole (Boyfriend loophole)
- Article Evaluation
- The boyfriend loophole is an escape clause within the Violence Against Women Act that allows ex-boyfriends and stalkers convicted of domestic violence to access guns. This clause is in stark contrast to ex-husbands, ex-cohabitants, or co-parents who, if convicted of domestic violence, are not allowed to access firearms. The article briefly mentions the recent political disputes regarding the boyfriend loophole and the resigning of the Violence Against Women Act, but it does not fully delve into the debate that it caused, and how the Violence Against Women Act was only resigned because Democrats took out the clause that would have prevented the boyfriend loophole. Lastly, the article does not focus on the gendered language of this clause.
