Merard MPABWANAMAGURU, born on Feb. 17, 1983 in Gikonko , Gisagara District, in Rwanda. Brought up in his family, he is the son of MUKURARINDA Diogenes and MUKAMANA Jacqueline. He has done the primary studies at Ecole Primaire de Gikonko Catholique from 1989 up to 1995, after his national primary final exam, he was sent by the Ministry of Education and Scientific research to study at Ecole Secondaire de Gikonko and then after Lycee de Rusatira for Humanities. After secondary studies, He moved for National University of Rwanda In 2004 where He got a bachelor’s degree of Sciences in Geography, Environment and Planning in 2008 after having prepared a publication entitled ” L’apport de l’élevage en stabulation permanente sur la protection de l’environnement: Cas du Secteur Rubengera, District Karongi”. (This was a partial fulfillment of the requirements for the award of Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Environment and Land Use Planning.) In 2012, Mr Merard Mpabwanamaguru pursued a Master of Development Studies, Rural and Urban Development in the Kigali Independent University where he graduated with distinction, his research topic was " Public Transport Infrastructure Development in the City of Kigali.". In May 2020, Merard Mpabwanamaguru completed his doctoral studies in USA in Urban Planning and Design that he had started in 2017; after his defense and publication of his book entitled "Citizen Engagement in City Planning: Citizen Engagement in City Planning for Achieving Sustainable & Resilient Cities.The Case of the City of Kigali, Rwanda". He is an Anglican, really a hardworking person and academically excellent. He is characterized by proven conceptual, analytical and evaluative skills, the ability to conduct independent research and analysis, identify issues, formulate options, arrive at conclusions and make sound recommendations. Flexible, courageous, open minded, team worker, honest, trustworthy person, he gets along well with other people under diverse cultures. He has been a teacher of primary in 2002 and 2003, and conducted an important work as a commissioner of National Election Commission in Gikonko District. In 2007 he taught history and Geography at Gikonko Secondary School, 2008 at Ecole Secondaire Butare and in Teachers’ Training of Save in 2009 both Tutor of Geography and Social Studies’ Department. From January up to September 2010, he worked in Nyaruguru District as a Land Manager where he left for Rwanda Natural Resources Authority as a GIS Professional till February 3, 2012 for The City of Kigali/ Urban Planning Construction and One Stop Centre as GIS and Land Surveyor. While working in the City of Kigali, Mr MPABWANAMAGURU Merard has contributed in the preparation of the City of Kigali Master especially the detailed physical plans of Gasabo and Kicukiro District. Working in a team, his much efforts in the new reforms in construction industry has significantly taken Rwanda from the place of 85 to 32 in easing Doing Business in Rwanda in dealing with construction permits. Currently, working both as an individual consultant and part time university Lecturer, He is married to Uwamahoro Solange from July 16, 2011 and a daddy of two sons Mah'li Mp Promise and Logan Mp Imena Izere.
