Marc Vael (born July 30th, 1967 in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium) is a computer scientist, professor, and lecturer that focuses in IT risks and business continuity. He attended the University of Antwerp, where he received a Master degree in Applied Economics, the University of Hasselt, where he received a Master degree in Information Management, and the University of Leuven, where he received a Master-Doctorandus degree in Applied Economics and ICT. Vael also holds several certificates in subjects such as systems auditing and risk and information systems control. He has worked at companies such as Compagnie Générale d'Informatique and Across Technology.
In 1997 Vael was made a guest professor at the Antwerp Management School and in 2004 received a similar position at the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management. In 2010 Vael was appointed as the deputy member of the Flemish privacy commission.[1]
