User:Martin Hogbin/Monty Hall - Unconditional Solution

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Many times in discussions about the Monty Hall Problem I have been asked what my position is and exactly why I would like to see the article start with and non-conditional solution. Her is a full explanation of my position.

What do I mean by a non-conditional solution

[edit]

I mean any solution that does not use conditional probability either because the problem is stated in a clearly unconditional for, or a solution to a problem statement which is, strictly speaking, conditional but the conditional nature of the problem is not considered in the solution for reasons of symmetry or logic. The specific condition I do not want to address in the non-conditional solution is the specific door that the host opens when he has a choice.
