Minecraft is a three-dimensional, sandbox, video game[1], created and developed by Mojang Studios[2]. It was first originally released on 18 November 2011[3], with on-going updates to this day. Its first public beta version, was on 17 May 2009[4]. The game allows players to bring their imaginations to life, in the confines of a cubic world[1]. It is considered to be the best selling game of all time, with over 350 million sales, and 170 monthly active players, as of 2025[5]. Due to it's popularity, a movie film adaption has been made, called, A Minecraft Movie (2025)[6].
