Claire Madden (O'Callaghan) is a camogie player, winner of the 5 Senior All Ireland medals in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2004. 1 Intermediate All Ireland in 1997 and 1 Junior All Ireland in 1992. Claire played club camogie with Portroe (Tipperary) and Fr. O'Neills (Cork).

Family Background

Claire's father Jim Madden was a selector with Tipperary Camogie from 1999-2001. Jim passed away in 2013 and his family and son Michael Madden set up the Jim Madden Leadership Program in his memory in conjunction with the GPA.

Claire's son Jack O'Callaghan won a minor All Ireland in 2022 with Tipperary playing wind back. Munster titles in 2024 & 2025 and an All-Ireland title in 2025 with Tipperary U20s.

Career

She was involved six successive All Ireland finals for Tipperary and a national league. She won her first All-Ireland with Tipperary in 1991, with Tipperary Juniors alongside Deirdre Hughes, Noelle Kennedy and Jovita Delaney. She won her second All Ireland with Tipperary Intermediates in 1997. Claire played interprovincial with Munster Camogie for 11 years winning 8 Gael Linn finals.

Claire played club camogie with Portroe in North Tipperary winning Intermediate and Junior Titles.

In 2002 she won a Cork Senior Camogie medal with Fr. O'Neill's playing centre back with teammates Fiona O'Driscoll and Mags Finn.

Claire returned to Tipperary and helped Portroe win another County title in Junior B Camogie.
