Concurrent Technologies Plc

[edit]

Overview

[edit]

Concurrent Technologies was founded in 1983 by Glenn Fawcett, to design and manufacture a diverse range of high performance Intel® processor boards, switches, networking, storage and software products which are for use in embedded solutions.

Since its establishment over three decade ago, the company has expanded and now has UK headquarters in Colchester, Essex and US headquarters in Woburn, MA. Along with additional design facilities in Bangalore, India and Sales Support in China. Concurrent Technologies is also supported by a worldwide network of sales representatives and distributors.

Concurrent Technologies is a public limited company (PLC) and as a result can be found on the London Stock Exchange.

Products

[edit]

Concurrent Technologies offer a comprehensive range of Commercial Off-The-Shelf products that are based on Open Standards. Each board product is orientated around long-life cycle applications and enhanced reliability in all aspects of operation.

Form Factors

[edit]

Concurrent Technologies designs boards in a range of form factors. VPX, AdvancedMC, VME, CompactPCI and XMC, along with software packages, are all available from Concurrent Technologies. Concurrent Technologies specialise in both Air-cooled boards and Ruggedized boards.

Air-cooled

[edit]

Air-cooled boards when in operation rely solely on the air around them to keep them at optimal operating temperature.

Ruggedized

[edit]

Ruggedized boards are suitable for increased levels of demand. This would include increased operating temperature ranges, increased shock and vibration and extreme operating environments, such as dust, sand, mud and increased humidity. Ruggedized boards are most likely to be found in environments where additional protection of the board is required to ensure smooth operation. For example, in military vehicles or communication equipment.

Markets

[edit]

Concurrent Technologies supply embedded solutions into a variety of markets which include; Military, Aerospace, Communication, Industrial, Transport and scientific.

Military: Typical applications may include; intelligence, surveillance, Reconnaissance (ISR), Command, Control, Communications, Compute (C4), RADAR, LIDAR, Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), Electronic Intelligence (ELINT), Simulation and Guidance.

Aerospace: Concurrent Technologies have created a range of 3U rugged products that are optimized for Size, Weight and Power (SWaP) which means they are suitable for deployment on airborne vehicles.

Communication: Typical applications may include 3G/4G basestation equipment, VoIP gateway adjunct services and local control and storage.

Industrial: Typical applications may include oil and gas extraction and exploration, producttion control, renewable energy systems and semiconductor process equipment and optical instrumentation.

Transport: Typical applications may include control of driverless freight trains, automatic number plate recognition

Scientific:

Partners

[edit]

Working closely with 3rd party companies, Concurrent Technologies identifies select combinations of products that interact with each other to meet a users specific application requirement.

Quality

[edit]

ISO9001:2015

[edit]

All board products are manufactured in the UK based factory in order to maintain compliance to the ISO9001:2015 standard.

Joint Supply Chain Accreditation Register (JOSCAR)

[edit]

Concurrent Technologies was assessed across a wide range of appropriate business parameters including; policy on counterfeit materials, insurance and third-party certification, health and safety, environment and sustainability, IT security, anti-bribery and corruption, product safety and quality. By obtaining JOSCAR accreditiation it ensures registered prime contractors such as BAE Systems, Leonardo, NATS, QinetiQ and others to confidently trade with pre-qualified organizations such as Concurrent Technologies and provides access to a centralized supplier database.

Alliances

[edit]

Concurrent Technologies contributes to a number of strategic alliance programmes.

Intel

[edit]

Concurrent Technologies are an affiliate member of the Intel Internet of Things Solutions Alliance. From modular components to market-ready systems, Intel and the global member companies of the Intel® Internet of Things Solutions Alliance provide scalable, inter-operable solutions that accelerate deployment of intelligent devices and end-to-end analytics.

PICMG

[edit]

PICMG publishes open standards specifically for the embedded computing market. Concurrent Technologies has, and continues to, develop product ranges based on this PICMG standard.

VITA

[edit]

VITA standards are widely used as the basis of many modular critical embedded computer architectures. VITA is accredited as an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) developer and is a submitter of Industry Trade Agreements to the IEC. Concurrent Technologies uses a multitude of VITA standards including VMEbus, VPX, XMC and PMC.
