Submission declined on 30 May 2025 by KylieTastic (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). Mehwish Salman Ali is a Pakistani technology entrepreneur and artificial intelligence advocate. She is the founder and CEO of Data Vault (Pakistan), Pakistan's first women-led solar-powered quantum-encrypted data center, and the creator of Zahanat AI, Pakistan's first indigenous generative AI platform. Her work in artificial intelligence development and international technology partnerships has been featured in regional and international media.
Early life and education
[edit]Mehwish Salman Ali was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan. She earned a degree in genetics from the University of Karachi in 2007.[1] Due to limited job opportunities in genetics, she transitioned to Pakistan's information technology sector in 2008.
Career
[edit]Early career and international expansion
[edit]After gaining four years of experience in Pakistan's IT sector, Ali moved to Dubai in 2012 following her marriage. She established 3wOgle Group of Companies, providing web-based IT services and solutions, primarily operating in the Middle Eastern market.[1]
Ali later spent time in Riyadh in 2022, recognizing it as an emerging advanced technology market, before deciding to return to Pakistan to help expand the country's AI capabilities and develop solutions for the Gulf market.[1]
Data Vault and AI development
[edit]Ali founded Data Vault, establishing Pakistan's first women-led solar-powered quantum-encrypted data center with headquarters in Pakistan and offshore offices in multiple countries.[2] The company specializes in AI systems designed to operate autonomously and focuses on secure cloud and AI infrastructure.
In March 2025, Ali launched Zahanat AI, Pakistan's first homegrown generative AI platform developed to address Pakistan's unique challenges with culturally sensitive and locally relevant solutions.[3] The platform was developed with localized datasets, including support for Urdu and other regional languages, and is designed to provide culturally relevant AI responses for use cases in education, healthcare, and public services.
The development of Zahanat AI faced significant challenges, particularly in accessing high-performance computing resources in Pakistan. The upcoming Z2 model is expected to support multiple regional languages including Sindhi, Pashto, and Balochi, aimed at serving Pakistan's linguistically diverse population.[3]
Women's entrepreneurship initiatives
[edit]Ali founded SheEarns, a program aimed at increasing women's participation in entrepreneurship through digital training and financial literacy initiatives.
Recognition and achievements
[edit]Ali has received several recognitions for her contributions to technology and innovation:
- Selected as a member of the Forbes Technology Council, an invitation-only network of technology leaders. She is the only female among four Pakistani technology experts in the prestigious council.[2]
- Featured in *The Print* for her work on Pakistan's first AI chatbot and localized AI applications.[3]
International representation and partnerships
[edit]Ali represented Pakistan at the 2025 International Digital Cooperation Forum (IDCF) hosted by the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) in Jordan, alongside Pakistan's Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja. As a key participant in the "Connecting AI Startups" panel, she highlighted Pakistan's growing influence in the global AI ecosystem.[4]
During the forum, Ali announced plans for Pakistan's first AI Innovation Center, designed to accelerate the growth of AI startups and foster innovation. She also engaged in strategic partnerships with international technology leaders, including collaborations with Saudi Arabia's Elm company, Austria's Fit4Internet, and Portugal's digitalization initiatives. Additionally, she received an invitation from Oman's Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology to establish a Data Vault office in Oman.[4]
Policy and advocacy
[edit]Ali's work supports Pakistan's National AI Policy, which emphasizes localized innovation and responsible use of artificial intelligence. She advocates for AI-friendly policies and has worked with public and private stakeholders to promote ethical AI practices and digital inclusion. Her efforts align with Pakistan's ambition to leverage AI for economic growth, with projections suggesting the technology could contribute significantly to the country's goal of becoming a $1 trillion economy by 2035.[1]
