Clinical validation is a process of checking an episode of care has been coded as accurately as possible. The review of the episode is performed by clinical staff (such as a consultant, nurse, or therapist) after the clinical coder has read and assigned codes to the diagnoses, and any complications, comorbidities, procedures or interventions.
