Terrence William "Terry" Gill (born Catford, London, 27 December 1935) is an English former professional and semi-professional association football player who played for Charlton Athletic, Bexleyheath & Welling, Dartford and Littlehampton Town between 1952 and 1976. He also managed Littlehampton Town and later the Sussex County representative team.

Early Years

Gill started his career as a 14 year old at Mountsfield Boys Club, Catford, London and represented Lewisham Schools. He joined Bexleyheath & Welling Colts on Boxing Day 1952 aged 16, captaining them against Manchester United in a 1954 Youth Cup tie. At the time Bexleyheath & Welling were a Kent League side. During this time he had trials at Charlton Athletic (need to check this as he did sign terms with them).

Bexleyheath & Welling FC

Gill made his first team debut for Bexley against Folkstone in the 1954-55 season scorring...-(add details her). He went on to establish himself as a regular in the first team managed by Charlie Vaughan - (need to establish exactly when CV was manager). In the 1958-59 season he scored 50 goals, creating a post-war record for the Kent League. He was also at this point the last of the original Colts team of 1952-53 still playing for the club. This also coincided with the demise of the Kent League, as it was known then, and Bexleyheath and Welling moved into the newly expanded Southern League. Gill scored 2 goals (check) in Bexley's fist match in the Southern League versus Rugby Town in the 1960-61 season. At the end of this season Bexley immediately gained promotion to into the Southern League Premier division and also won the Kent Senior Cup 3-0 versus .... In 1962 Gill earned himself a testimonial year and benefit match after 10 years service at Bexley. At Christmas 1964 he was transferred to Dartford for a fee of £500. He played for Bexley for 12 years, making 403 senior appearances and scoring 258 goals. This included 110 goals in 178 Southern League matches.

He played for Dartford from 1964-66.

Littlehampton Town FC

In 1966 he left Dartford for Littlehampton of the Sussex County League, replacing Tom Nekrews, who was a team-mate at Bexley, as player-coach. He was with the club for 11 years, 8 as a player-manager (1966-74) and 4 as a manager (1974-78), winning the Sussex Senior Cup in 1970, and both the RUR Cup and the Sussex County League Cup 3 times. During this period Littlehampton Town were also Sussex County League runners-up on 4 occasions.

Sussex County Representative FC

In April 1980 he became the Sussex County representative manager until 1986. In 1982 Sussex reached their first ever South Western Counties Championship final, beating Devon 2-0 at Torquay's Plain Moor ground. In 1983 they reached the final again but lost 1-0 to Somerset. In 1984 they failed to reach the final stage but remained unbeaten, winning 8 and drawing 2. On 13 May 1985 Gill steered them to another final. 3-1 down with 10 minutes left v Cornwall they completed a comeback in extra-time, winning 5-3.

Brighton & Hove Albion

After brief scouting work for Brigton & Hove Albion FC he became marketing manager for the club in 1991, where he remained until 1996, mostly during the period when Barry Lloyd was manager.
