I evaluated the Wikipedia article "Hetch Hetchy."

The content of the article is relevant to the valley and reservoir of the same name. The order of information made logical sense progressing from the geographic description of the region to the history of the region before development to the summary of the Hetch Hetchy project, and finally to current arguments about proposed restoration. Most of the information in the article is up to date. However, the last paragraph of the "Hetch Hetchy Project" section needs to be updated to note that the proposal to limit boating on the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir in 2018 was rejected by the House in 2019.

The tone of the article was neutral, and even when describing the controversy around the Hetch Hetchy project, both sides were presented. However, the section describing the arguments against proposed restoration could include more substantial detail and up to date detail describing the opposition of San Francisco citizens to draining the valley.

The citations appear to be from relevant and reliable references, including information from the Sierra Club, USGS, and SF Water Power Sewer. If there was bias in their citation, either a citation with the opposing view was added for the same statement or the opposing side was addressed with a different statement and corresponding citation. A few references to books are ambiguous such as references to Jones, 2010 and Simpson, 2005, and I had trouble accessing them with a quick internet search.

The talk page mostly concerns the semantics of the article rather than any major content discrepancies in the article. The article is rated B-class and is part of WikiProject California/SF Bay Area, Civil Engineering, Lakes, and United States.

In my water resources class, I have talked about the Hetch Hetchy mostly from an engineering point of view. We did not address the controversy surrounding restoration or the detailed history of the dam before construction in the detail that the Wikipedia article does.
