Later on, he did research and development on an ebXML implementation using SOAP for Supply Chain Networks, a startup. For a time, Calen was a freelance consultant and trainor. Orange & Bronze Software Labs

[edit]

Calen Martin Legaspi co-founded Orange and Bronze in July 2005 with Renato "Butch" Landingin. Calen Legaspi says that they “wanted to establish a technology-oriented company that Filipinos can be proud of...we would also want to contribute to global programming standards, create new technologies and be with the same level together with globally-respected companies like Google, Microsoft and BoostPro."[4]

The company started as a two-man consulting firm[5] doing software training for local software companies. Their clients eventually hired them as software consultants, before the company ventured into offshore software development projects. This led to partnerships with Google, SpringSource and Pentaho[6].

IT Education in the Philippines

[edit]

In 2011, Calen was appointed as the official representative to the Commission on Higher Education (Philippines) (CHED) Technical Committee on Computer Science[7]. He was part of the team that was tasked to qualify the standards of IT and Computer Science education in Region X.

Legaspi has been championing educational reform in the field of Information Technology, a cause where he also involves O&B. O&B has been organizing or participating in programs that support the Philippine academe by providing free training and seminars to teachers, as well as other programs aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of educators[8].
