Chosen Article: SuperStar SMTOWN

Observations:

• The article has quite a few grammatical/spelling errors throughout.
• Japan is not included in the list of countries in which the app is available, which should be corrected
• There are relative time references (e.g., "just recently") that should probably be omitted or changed to dates where possible.
• There are quite a few paragraphs that do not have any citations whatsoever.
• The sentence which makes up the third paragraph is a close paraphrase to the cited source; this should be re-worded.
• The 4th and 6th citations are broken links (both links originate from Whowired Korea, which no longer appears to be in service).
• The Talk page is empty except for Projects and Categories.
• While the page is written with a generally unbiased view, much of the information appears unchecked and out-of-date.

Potential Articles for Editing

My Brother's Husband (Manga)

• The page seems to hit the main basic points, and is well-structured
• There are many resources cited
• There are some errors with one or two citations
• Many of the citations are from news blogs and the like as opposed to more authoritative publications; could try to supplement this as part of the assignment
• As the semester progresses, more information will become available about the live action drama on NHK BS Premium, which could be a part of my contribution
• There's not much discussion on the Talk page
• A synopsis of each
• Supplemental work could also be done on pages about same-sex marriage in Japan, or maybe the author of the series

My Darling is a Foreigner (Manga)

• The page isn't incredibly fleshed out
• The page focuses more on the film adaptation, while the manga is the original work; this could be remedied as part of my contribution
• There are quite a few resources, and many of them are somewhat authoritative publications given the context
• There's quite a bit of discussion about the title of the page on the Talk page, partly regarding the relationship between the manga and the movie

Akiko Higashimura (Manga Artist)

• The page is lacking any real substance aside from her bibliography,
• Her controversial (and arguably therefore notable) work Himozairu is completely omitted from the page, and does not have a page itself; this could be part of my contribution
• No discussion is taking place on the Talk page
• More authoritative resources could be cited

Chosen Article: My Brother's Husband

I've chosen My Brother's Husband for my assigned article. I plan on improving the article with information about the characters and other aspects of the manga itself using the primary text as my main resource, and some credible press coverage from Anime News Network and similar sites. Depending on the substantiality of the content that can be produced, I am also considering improving the LGBT culture in Japan page as a backup option.
