The Moon family were first introduced at the end of 2002 by executive producer Louise Berridge. Well known comedian Shane Ritchie was cast in the role of loveable rogue Alfie, appearing on 21 November and taking up the position of Queen Vic manager. Several days later he was joined by younger brother Spencer followed by their elderly grandmother Nana Moon in December. In 2003 Alfie began a romance with Kat Slater, breaking up her engagement with Andy Hunter, with the two finally marrying at Christmas.[1]
